In this workshop, participants will understand the full range of climate risks facing Gwent, explore what’s already being done to prepare across infrastructure, nature, communities, and the local economy, review existing data to gauge the severity of those risks, identify gaps in our knowledge, and begin mapping the most critical risks in specific locations.
We’re hosting four Gwent-wide ‘surgeries,’ each focused on a specific theme, to explore how climate risks affect our local environment, infrastructure, communities, and businesses. These sessions bring together people with on-the-ground knowledge—those who understand their patch—to share insights and help build proactive plans for a climate ready Gwent.
We’re hosting five in-person workshops across Gwent—one in each county: Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, and Torfaen.
These sessions give local communities the chance to sense-check emerging findings, share views on combined climate risks, and highlight priorities for adaptation. They’re open to anyone interested in shaping a climate-ready future for Gwent.
We’re hosting five in-person workshops across Gwent to take a closer look at specific climate risks. Each session will focus on issues identified earlier in the risk assessment process, such as vulnerable places, key assets, or challenges like wildfires, agricultural impacts, and infrastructure vulnerabilities.
These sessions help leaders understand the Climate Change Risk Assessment process, explore key messages on emerging climate risks, and start shaping effective leadership responses to meet these challenges.
