Well-being Plan

Each Public Services Board (PSB) must prepare and publish a local Well-being Plan setting out its local objectives and the steps it proposes to meet them.

The Gwent PSB carried out its Assessment of the economic, social, environmental and cultural well-being of Gwent in 2021/22. You can read the Well-being Assessment in this link. And the PSB has been using the information from the assessment to draft its Well-being Plan to help improve the region for its residents.

The Well-being Plan must set out:

  • Why the PSB feels the objectives will contribute within Gwent to the well-being goals, and
  • How the assessment of well-being has been used in setting the objectives and the steps it will take

The draft Well-being Plan was considered by the PSB at its meeting on 29th September – and is now consulting with the people and organisations listed below:

  • The Future Generations Commissioner
  • The Board’s invited participants
  • Its other partners
  • Each of the Gwent Local Authority’s overview and scrutiny committees
  • Relevant voluntary sector organisations
  • Representatives living and carrying out business in the area
  • Trade unions representing working in the area; and
  • Community Groups
  • The Residents of Gwent
  • Any other persons the board considers appropriate

The draft Well-being Plan can be found in the link below:
Consultation Draft Well-being Plan for Gwent

We welcome everyone’s thoughts and ideas whilst we finalise the plan. And to have your say, please go to the following page for details on the consultation. Note that the consultation ends on 31 Dec 2022.

Following consultation the plan must be approved by the statutory members of the board.

Once published the PSB will send a copy of its Well-being plan to Welsh Ministers, the Commissioner, the Auditor General for Wales and each of the local authority’s overview and scrutiny committees.

This plan must be published no later than 12 months following an ordinary local government election. The Gwent PSB Well-being Plan must therefore be published by 5th May 2023. We will publish the final plan, on this page when it is ready.
